When man became overly dependant on science, the ancient knowledge and rituals that protected humanity for generations were lost. Prophecies of fiery chaos were dismissed as ignorant superstitions or theological blindness. Seizing this lapse in ancient beliefs, demons entered earth through the Hellgate, a swirling portal connecting our world to the nether world. Modern weapons proved largely ineffective and the demonic onslaught resulted in the slaughter of millions. Only a select few possessed weapons forged in the traditions of their forefathers and the ancient, mystical beliefs to wage war against the dark invaders.

Hellgate: London is a much awaited MMORPG by Flagship Studios; the studio was formed in 2003 by former executives and developers from Blizzard North and represents the creators of the worldwide, best-selling Diablo franchise. Hellgate: London is an action role-playing game with a completely randomised world that offers a unique experience every time you play; with massive amounts of randomization and customization, it offers infinite replayability. Hellgate: London places the player in a demon-ridden world where the last survivors of the human race must meld science and magic to survive.

Randomised Instance Game play
Hellgate: London players interact in a single, unified world, where players can meet and organize party invites and pickup quests in stations. The world will not be spilt into different servers or territories, but rather consist of all the trappings of an MMOG with fresh and exclusive content, heavy player interaction, “instance” based gameplay, guild support and exclusive play modes. All instances are completely randomized, giving players a unique experience every time they play.

Item System
Hellgate: London will have a truly dynamic item system giving rise to endless permutations of the same item. A complex prefix/suffix system, random item attributes and multiple modification slots on any given item within predefined limitations. Players can switch between melee and ranged weapons, and even dual wield their weapons, allowing for greater possibilities.

Combat System
Hellgate: London can be played in a first person perspective or a third person perspective. This gives players flexibility in controlling their view when switching between melee weapons and guns.
