30 DEC 2008, SINGAPORE - IAHGAMES INITIATES BLOOD DONATION DRIVE - “THE RED AFFAIR”
IAHGames is ushering the New Year with a blood donation drive – The Red Affair – on 3rd & 4th January 2009 at the red dot Design Museum on Maxwell Road. Collaborating with the Red Cross Society, Market of Artists and Designers (MAAD) and red dot Design Museum, The Red Affair takes place from 11 am to 5 pm on both days (Saturday and Sunday).
To start the ball rolling, staff from IAHGames will be first in line to donate blood at this event, along with gamers from the Granado Espada (GE) community. IAHGames has been working tirelessly with the gamer community over the past two years to organise socially responsible community service events, encouraging gamers to be “real life” heroes. The Red Affair ’09 is just the latest in a series of such events.
Granado Espada gamers responded enthusiastically to the blood drive initiated by IAHGames.
“IAHGames believes in Corporate Social Responsibility and we feel blood donation is a noble deed worth supporting and encouraging. In times as this, people may be hesitant to donate money, but donating blood costs nothing more than 60 minutes of our time. Some of our gamers have actively participated in such altruistic activities in the past two years, and we want to encourage them to continue the spirit of giving in this coming year,” said Roland Ong, CEO of IAHGames.
Besides door gifts such as game DVDs and exclusive unreleased in-game items, IAHGames has produced limited edition red packets and postcards to give away as tokens of appreciation.
During The Red Affair, there will be “live” hourly in-game broadcasts to update gamers on the amount of blood collected and to encourage more gamers to attend the event. The gamer faction that donates the most blood will receive a special “Heroes of the Red Affair” award as well as coverage of their faction’s “courageous deed” on the GE website and IAHGames newsletter.
Bravo to the X° Faction heroes that donated their blood in response to IAHGames' call for a good cause!
The GE gamer community had been involved in outreach programmes such as escorting students from Katong Special School on day trips to places such as Road Safety Park and Changi Airport. Currently, there is an ongoing programme where winners of a competition will get to choose a child from World Vision for Team GE to sponsor for a year.
The Red Affair takes place on 3rd & 4th January 2009 (Saturday and Sunday) from 11 am to 5 pm for both days at the red dot Design Museum, as part of MAAD.
