The first Gamer Girl (GG) we’re featuring for 2010 is Jasmine Teo, second runner-up of last year’s Dragonica D-Babe competition. ‘Kitty’, as she is known in-game, shares tidbits of her RL self, including her great toilet adventure and futile search for true love…

The Hello Kitty fanatic who wants gamer boys to get a grip
Sleeping with mummy
I can only concentrate on one thing at a time (just like boys) and tend to totally forget what I was doing previously, even for appointments with friends. And when there’s nothing to do, I easily ‘space out’… That gets worse when I am angry. I’d walk around in circles and ignore everyone who tries talking to me, while munching on ice cream and crackers ceaselessly.
Strangers will find my ‘cold front’ off-putting, but I’m actually very warm to people I know. Every now and then, when I’m at my lowest, I need hugs too. In fact I am extremely timid, especially after watching horror movies. After a scary show I keep my mummy awake with endless questions on what happened in the show. Yes, I sleep with my mummy every night… because I am afraid of the dark!
My rabid Hello Kitty collection
Whenever my family, friends, god-sister and god-brother are happy, I’ll be happy. Their smiles shine like stars in a sweet dream. My major source of joy is my Hello Kitty collection staring out at me every day on my bed. I love Hello Kitty and My Melody, lots!
My collection is too numerous to count, and most toys are still in their so-called ‘little present boxes’ in my lovely, decorated Hello Kitty room. Ever since I'm young, I keep every Hello Kitty doll I get my hands on and name every single one. They are my Agony Aunts whenever I’m down. I imagine them always smiling at me while I vent my anger and unhappiness at the entire shelf of dolls.
I also have My Melody, Minnie Mouse, and other cute, pink, and innocent-looking soft toys. They are my thing! My birthday is my favourite day of the year - that's when I get Hello Kitty toys as presents!
Vegetarian animal lover
I am bothered by lies fabricated with the intent to cheat me… and cruelty to animals. I love animals! Seeing them get hurt while I am unable to help hurts me deeply too. =[
That’s partly why I’m a vegetarian. I learn to cook various types of vegetarian food from my mum, and would love to use my culinary skills for my future family.
I'm a game-hopper
I started gaming at the age of 14, when my classmate introduced me this game - Ragnarok Online. It remains my favourite game today. I really like how the characters look so cute with so many headgears to choose from!
I’ve also played MapleSea (Cassiopeia), Dragonica (Kaye), AuditionSea, KongKongSea, Super Dancer Online (Dreamland), PangYa, Seal Online, Luna Online, Viwawa and Pet Society(FB).
Any game that appears “cute” will appeal to me. Sometimes I play one game for just a few months, change to another, then hop back to the first one. There’re just too many games for me to play =X.
My favourite female game character is Super Dancer Online(.:Fate:.)! She can dance well! And she’s got lots of clothes and hair styles to choose from.
On online friends
Online games are like a second home. I’ve got lots of friends there, do plenty of MVPing (killing bosses) with friends, hunt for gear, tour different maps while listening to their different zone soundtracks, and chat with other players.
I do trust my friends in-game but if one of them ever scams me I will never believe that player again unless there is good reason and an apology. I hate scammers! They never even try to earn the items themselves, but are happy with scamming others for an easy way out.
My worst experience was this time on the ERO PK Server. A player whispered me in-game asking me to tank her. I accepted as I understood that new players need help instead of solo-leveling. I started tanking her when out of a sudden, she ask me what my character was wearing. I replied ‘Red Tailed Ribbon headgear’. She asked to borrow it and promised to return it after the grinding run was over. To my shock, she took me for a ride! When I confronted her she even claimed the headgear belonged to her!!
Shape up, gamer boys!
I love a guy who possesses a pure heart of gold, who never asks for payback for anything he does. Basically I am not fussy or choosy. I'm not even one of those materialistic type of girls, pining for their Prince Charming to come sweep them off their feet one day, or their ‘handsome, rich gentleman’ types. Love is a pure and sincere sensation that cannot be quantified like this.
Guys who game are always seeped in their own world. They should spend more time doing something more fruitful or improving themselves. Instead of spending too much time on games you have to sort out your life and balance up in between.
Gamer boys can only be my so-called 'best buddies’. They can be noisy at times, and most would just keep repeating the same old question ''What are you doing recently?'' or “How's everyday life?'' ... ._."
Guys who go online often have the intention of dating girls online and then meeting them in real life. This can either be a very good or very bad outcome leading to the end of the relationship. My advice to the girls – don't put too much hope in someone you’ve never met in real life. Be wise and learn to accept that online worlds will never be anything like real life!
Once my leg got stuck in a…
During my high school days, there was one unforgettable incident that always gets me laughing whenever I think of it. I went into a toilet cubicle right after the cleaner was done with it, and slipped on the wet floor. My leg got stuck in the toilet bowl! (the squatting-on-floor type) I told everyone I knew and we all had a big laugh!
What is 'true love'?
Online relationships are cute and sweet. I will never think of them as real-life as they won't last long for sure. They will come to a hurtful state because you may know the person in-game yet not in real life. Such a ‘love’, if any, will not last long if the couple tries to bring it to real life.
What is true love like? It is like watering two flowers with care and seeing them grow together day by day, braving the ill weather just like how we must brave the ups and downs in life. It’s a sense of gradual, cumulative satisfaction; something crying for remembrance.
And once it’s all over, it becomes a mere flashback of happiness and memorable moments of time spent together. I hope for more of it and to love again - waiting for true love that can melt my precious heart. However, my heart is like stone now…
